Diary of author Allyson James
Because of too much comment spam (despite word verification) and other reasons, I'm moving this blog to
Or you can view my more fun blog at www.myspace.com/allysonjamesauthor
See you there!
I've just accepted an offer from Berkley to continue the Dragon series, so the next book will be coming out... I'm not sure when, but soon. This one is tentatively titled Fire Dragon and will be about a new dragon, a very rare species that can turn itself into fire. Caleb, Malcolm, Saba, Lisa, Axel, Carol, Ming Ue, and the others will be returning as well. Keep an eye on my Dragons Page to get details as I have them.
Meanwhile I'm working on yet another series--the first one is Mortal Temptations, which will be out from Berkley Heat next year. This is an erotic romance--I'm just goiing over the pages before I turn it in, and when I say erotic romance, I mean it! The heat level is on line with the Shareem books, and the heroes are pretty yummy. I hope you like Nico and Andreas.
I'm buried in deadlines right now, but I hope to update my blogs and myspace pages soon. I did update the entire www.allysonjames.com website this weekend, so all that is info is current.
Take care, and hope everyone had a good T'giving!
I'm working with a new designer to send out my Allyson James newsletter. Please bear with us while we work out the bugs. It has a nice look and feel to it. You can still subscribe or unsubscribe through the group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/allysonjames/ We sent out one tonight--if you have major problems with it, let me know. As I said, we're working on the kinks.
Take care,Allyson James
Have to do the spiel first--The Black Dragon is out today! The story of Malcolm, the black dragon you met in Dragon Heat, now has his story told. His romance with Saba is intense--she's not exactly thrilled to see him again, and she has a few surprises in store for him. Read an excerpt of chapter one here.
I also heard from Just Erotic Romance Reviews that they'll spotlight me in one of their newsletters in December. Part of that feature is a website review. Ack!! My poor I-do-it-myself website will come under scrutiny! I'd better go make sure it's all ok. Be gentle with me, guys! I'm just a simple country author.
Over on my other blog (www.jennifersromances.blogspot.com), author Bonnie Vanak and I are going to do a giveaway to help newbie authors. The fun starts Monday Nov. 5, so pop over there then for all the details.
I'm not sure why Double Trouble keeps showing up on the top 100 bestselling paranormal romances at Amazon (they call it "Fantasy, Futuristic & Ghost"--for reasons known only to them).
I mean, I don't mind! LOL, but it's very neat. For the last month or so, it keeps popping on and off the top 100 list, hanging out between 75 and 80 or so. Very cool! Thanks readers--and I hope you enjoy the book.
I don't have a lot of news to report except that The Black Dragon is almost out--only three more weeks! I've been mostly keeping my head down writing like a fiend. I went through my "forthcoming" list over at my Jennifer Ashley site (www.jennifersromances.com/forthcoming.html) and see that I have 2008 pretty much booked up and on into 2009. (My EC releases aren't there, because I don't always know very far ahead of time when the pub. dates are).
Hope everyone's having a good weekend!!
New cover for next year's anthology, Private Places. Gorgeous! Yanno, I get more excited about the covers than the dang book! I'm just a frustrated artist at heart, I guess. I love looking at great covers.
This is out in August, 2008. I know it's a long way off, but I need to post this cover.
I just discovered that Double Trouble is also available at Barnes & Noble online which is good. I'm not certain when the book will show up on shelves at Borders/Waldens bookstores, but check when you can. I know independent bookstores are already carrying it.
I've been getting many questions about when the other Shareem books will be in print (Rio and Aiden & Ky). Sadly, I have no idea. EC's print schedule has slowed way down, and they're printing very few new books right now. They promise that will change once they get caught up.
Feel free to sign up for my Yahoo newsletter: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/allysonjames/ I send out newsletters when I have a new release or a book goes out in print, or something special's going on.
I also want to say thanks for all the email and postings you've been sending on Dragon Heat and the Shareem books. I'm swamped as usual, so I haven't been able to answer every email, but each one is appreciated, believe me!! Thank you!!!!
I'm not a blog slacker, really, I've just spent the past month banging away at more books!
The first good news is that Double Trouble is now in stock at Amazon.com (finally...)
Second is that I have a pub date for my next EC book: December 7, 2007. Cool cover below (I love it!) Not a Shareem, this time--I wanted to try my hand at a werewolf story.
Third--one of the deadlines I was banging away on is an anthology for Berkley Heat called Private Places which will be out in August 2008. This anthology also has stories by Robin Schone, Claudia Dain, and Shiloh Walker. (If you haven't read Claudia Dain, she writes intense historicals. We've been friends for a while; I just love her.)
I love flashy covers, so here's the latest EC one:
I just got back from Detroit where I had the best booksigning ever! at Paperbacks and Things (http://www.paperbacksndthings.com/). Melissa Bliss has a terrific store, so if you're in her area, definitely check it out! She has reader groups and signings with big name authors every month. Plus I swear I could find any romance there I wanted--any.
This signing was with me (as both Jennifer Ashley and Allyson James), Delilah Devlin, and Jory Strong. We had a great turnout with terrific people and all three of us signed books until our hands got numb. I had my Allyson James books from EC, plus Dragon Heat. There was even a cake with our book covers on it. Very cool.
Anyway, I have to say I met the nicest people in Detroit. I don't think I met one unfriendly person the whole stay. Plus meeting Delilah and Jory--two of my favorite authors.
So, please, check out the store online or in person, and send them my regards. What a wonderful bookseller is Melissa!!
